Navigating the Nexus 2012

At the level of personal action the world is changing.

Within the stories that we tell ourselves and amidst the calendar and weather of our solar system, let alone our galaxy, 2012 offers a nexus point of change, a turning point of reflection. For 2012 is the culmination of a 26,000 year cycle of Mayan prophesy, foretelling great change and transformation as the Earth’s axis becomes aligned with the centre of the Milky Way, and as such galactic weather provides an atmospheric catalyst for our collective awakening.

At the level of social action the world is changing.

Such a nexus point is an intersection of various threads or trajectories, whether of history, energy, consciousness, culture or galactic geometry. It is within such a story that we can find the warp and weft of our own stories, and to ask with what gestures do we greet and hold the world? What is the personal and political scent of our breath as we greet the dawn? For in the ways of some of the first people of Turtle Island (the Americas), the first glance of the day brought a blessing of corn to each of the directions. This was no superstitious ritual, but a purposeful ceremony of alignment in choosing how to greet the day in every gesture of human consciousness and stewardship.

At the level of political action the world is changing.

As we all, inevitably, shape our futures, these shapes are reflected and created by the gestures we hold at all levels of our being and actions, the modulations of our voice, the geometries of our posture, the dimensions of our scent. Reflecting on our ways with such sigils, of our bodies, mind and spirit, can provide an oasis of calm consideration in how we step forward into the world. This retreat will be a co-creation of the circle that comes. It is neither seminar nor workshop, but an opportunity to hold vigil and witness for the changes within and around us. Prayer, meditation, song and discussion will frame our time as we seek with ruthless compassion the gaze and sigils of who we are.
